WalkingA Poem by PerditionTonight I walked my footprints through the seams A distance not far beneath insufficient eyes But far enough to dream Every night I must walk deeper, Willingly, with the same unaltered fear The same blackened air of courage that comes with a
simple breath There is an honesty in that And some nights I will never see it Blurred by the severed measures created in my heart Or the birds that balance high on the final clouds of day But other nights I will And a language will ensue Telling me of oceans and operas and of the death of
good light And I will listen to every word that falls Your lives will hear this too My intent not mine alone but ours to share My lips whispering over yours The shape of our knowing becoming twilight in the darkness
of the green matters of forest And we will see our sadness And we will know the battles digested from the sea and
all that traces therein Knowing the outlines and the bodies young still
drifting below, and farther into the pains I will walk Until tomorrow I will find my heart at the village of
your door And the trees that line your street will bend their
empty arms if only once to hear us sing the stars down to a slight divinity And in these pages, in the shapeless unwavering hands Warm with the night’s allowance and air I will reach for your reply To hold what from these words I never will © 2018 PerditionAuthor's Note
