Never Ending

Never Ending

A Poem by Perdition

Whatever claims your fate or head or sinful notion
Fluttering in from space or some other plastic temple
Whatever breaks that midnight stare
Trailing in dispersant shadows,

The face of it hanging on the wall
Sways a crooked hat that runs to some cherry crypt ‘morn

Whatever blushing star,
Fragrant sound, or distant hush
Spell binds your reason
Like an untouched ovary against the galaxy

Whatever was will never fade
Inviting a seed of perception, a pain, a want
To walk
Along all that has deserted

Whatever slit this world into two and yours within
Be it shackled or winged
Spoke its wounds into your ear
And aged like sweet knowing mountain air
Relieving the story from its weight
Obsessing the obsession
Only now
What is out there
Is within

You know, quite by chance I called on this piece again. This time I played Asturias, to accompany the reading. I rarely do that. The music was beautiful, a real treat, but I have to say, your incredible imagery and in particular your fourth stanza spoke to me. Yes, it spoke to me in a big way with a message which has now given me direction. I thank you for that Joseph. A very happy new year to you.

Thank you for sharing this. It is a marching poem that summons forces from afar and gets closer and closer to home with the notion that we are reaching for the untouchable.

You wrap the most intricately beautiful images around the influences of life that impale and provoke (and also heal and inspire) us...break our midnight stare and spell bind reason.
Insanely imaginative and at the same time absolutely anchored and relatable (at least to me, a fellow mad person)
It is like soul food, to read this. Mind food. Unfortunately I am very greedy more please

There is so much to love about this poem. The construction is flawless: from the opening triple-headed monster of a question in the first line, the mind simply flows along.

images to simply die for: crooked hat cherry crypt morn, world split in two, which is only enhanced by your constant positioning of multiple options within lines

all finished off by the arresting close of What is out there/is within

always a treat to read your work Perdition. A true craftsmen at play

Pace yourself..lol. Thank you once again for the kind review ystorm.
The third stanza stands out to me the most

Whatever blushing star
Fragrant sound or distant hush
Spell binds your reason
Like an untouched ovary against the galaxy

To me this speaks of being untainted by monetary earthly wants and greed. Being inspired by nature, the stars, something greater than ourselves and materialistic wants.

This whole poems speaks to me of the vastness of space and the flip side of selfish wants.
