Horse NationA Poem by PerditionI have come to bury my blindness Lay thee well in soft feathered grounds of divinity I have come to sing, where eyes will listen as others
before, My chanting death in looming wilderness I stand, Rising to battle, A bloom of light Descendant, against the hide of my drum Where I will sing out my spirit I will reach to my brother in oneness In silence " I will look to Horse Nation Building in heart Its’ sacred beat In morning white bird I will wake To the roll of new winds Father Sun to the holy infinite Spirit Billowing in amber grass Galloping under young sky Again given these wings that will lift in curious eyes The Buffalo standing Still unforgotten I will sing as the River lips over stars of stone The slow awakening Its moan to its purity O Mother of all nations Where have you flown Your wisp of hair in golden end Now falling I still taste the earth I remember Not many moons ago We, as one, walked together and Spoke of harmony soon to come Now, our tears of salt weep Death hides in endless web Risen lands turn to ice Our paths … Our way to our children grows dry and weary The blood from our soldiers, Once, hardened in peace Now flows in permanence below I will follow the road of red And at the root of willow I will sing once more In the ‘lume of a trillion stars I shall dance a
feather of eagle I will walk the sleep of young night’s winter I will call into the memory of Horse Nation And I will wake in prayers surrounded Mitakuye Oyasin © 2013 PerditionReviews
