A Poem by Percy Pound

Love
Such a fragile, tragic thing
A knife in the side
A rose on the ground
A smile in on the street
A light in the dark
Seven billion people, but you only need one
Some people say more equals more fun

Young men, go for the poor in smiles
The broken and torn
The ones who need a strong friend first
And a companion second

And young women, go for strong in spirit
Go for the dreamers
Ones with a cheerful demeanor
And whose head is in the clouds
Because you'll be the one to ground him.

Make me a promise,
That you'll try to never get mad
And that you never make anyone sad
Love one another as you love yourself

And make your own Gospel
To laugh in the face of the impossible
Do things right
To defeat this blight

Want to wake up every morning
Up next to that someone
And drink in that feeling
Because it means you won
And that you know that you are the one
To have all the fun.
