Save someone

Save someone

A Poem by Percy Pound

One the edge of something great
But also one mistake away
From breaking my own dreams
No matter how much they may gleam.
I've watched from afar,
My whole life and
I know you and
I know you have all this strife.
I see you crying in the corner
Clenching your fist in halls
Writing a list
To save others from the fall.
You're on the ledge,
Metaphorically or not,
But please listen to my plea.
I promise,
 just take a step back,
 and
I'll try to do my best
To make this world a better place.
Just take my hand,
Sisters and Brothers
I need you now
TO STEP BACK
And listen to the crowd.
You can hear their begging
The mother with a mortgage
The boy with a grudge
The girl with a broken mirror
The dad with 2 jobs and too little options.
So please, i'm begging you
Maybe spend some time with me in this pew.
Maybe get off the hate pages
and step into this light
Many care about you.
Me, including so,
but if you don't heed this word
you'll never know
You want to be free?
Of pain and gloom?
It's right here; in this very room
So come with me
We'll carry them through this,
and silence their cries.
I don't care if i'm lost
I need not fear death
Don't need no will
Because my children will inherit this Earth.
Call me a dreamer
A guy with a big head
Lost in the clouds.
My poems may not rhyme
All the time
But I try to speak the truth
So i'll write until the deaf and the ignorant hear
The old men and the blind see
The shy and the mute speak
And the brainwashed and dumb think.
I'll make it as best as I can;
Starting right now
I''m breaking outta this pound
I'll bring you with me and set us both free
And just maybe, maybe
We'll throw these chains that you've become used to
off
and then maybe we won't have to hear those sick cough.
I want to be free, but the price is not in our hands
Please tell me you understand.
The wind is picking up;
I'm drawing too much attention
So please sign this petition.
You're seeking God
To find he's in another castle
And give up because you won't do battle.
I want the rich to work hard
And the poor to be fed.
The warriors to be humbled
And the pacifists to fight this strife.
All I want is for you to see
All of this world's beauty
I'll ask you again, only one more time,
Do you understand?
That freedom isn't cheap and does not come easy.
I'm willing to fight,
In fact I've already taken up arms
So take my hand, O fellow love.
You see, i'm a hopeless romantic
A Unemployed Philosopher
A broken fortune teller
A Knight with too many dragons.
I''m messed up;
just like you
I've broken my own heart just the same.
So please, I beg of you
Please spare this earth and
Life just might spare you...
