Beast of Odes

Beast of Odes

A Poem by PercussionPanda
"

abides beside Tartarus' throat; a fable and myth, psalm and note, a name which endless time erodes- aslumber lies the beast of odes. [a beginner's attempt at iambic meter]

"
beneath the cerulean waves of brine,
where ruin and aged wreck ever recline.
deep waters between, a zone of midnight;
embodiment dwells, of Ares and might.

abides beside Tartarus' throat;
a fable and myth, psalm and note,
a name which endless time erodes
aslumber lies the beast of odes.

no words describe enough this creature dire;
bellows for lungs, with furnace-tongues of fire.
heart of cinnabar spouts sulfuric ire,
testudo scales; with each step, foes expire.

o jormungandr, do not awake
leviathan, wyvern, worldly snake.
its groans and grunt eerily sound;
its breath does shake the weary ground

a nested viper   away with your hand!
you foolish and rash traverser of land.
disturb not your death, great errs will advise.
beware, or one's ego will spell one's demise.

Author's Note

PercussionPanda
This is my first attempt at iambic metre, and I wrote this for a secret Santa. Some words were too cool to be removed for the sake of iambic metres, so it isn't perfect.

I am looking to experiment, practice, and improve my writing. Feedback is much appreciated. Thank you for reading!
