EbonicsA Poem by Mr. Deft DictionThis is an ode to a CLASSIC...CLASSIC joint by burgeoning rap star, Big L, who died all too soon. R.I.P. Big LThe dope boys in the trap.... slingin' 'candy' to the rats, while rubber bands are holdin' stacks. Stacks meaning 'guac', and 'guac' means money. Holdin' it down means I'm here, and they can't take it from me. To be 'son'd' means you got learned, you're a 'go-getter' from what you earned. We know what it means to get burned, 'I'm on top' means it's my turn! Kings hold court; but them Aces be the highest. Dimes used to be nice, but if you got 'high-cheekbones' you're the flyest. Far as rappers go, I might be the finest. I could've let the colloqualisms go; but then I'd digress. A 'shawty' is a youngin'.... youngin's stop at 25. You're skatin' on 24's? That means you have a nice ride. Starlight in your eyes, better grab ya Louis Vuitton frames. Unless you're feeling Gucci, then you grab ya Dana Danes. A honey with an 'apple bottom' means she got some caboose on the train. Peoples g. Riot means that from now on lyrics will never be the same....
