Double Talk

Double Talk

A Poem by Mr. Deft Diction

We're all here looking for something.

That's why little girls grow up needing protection within the Kingdom.

We're all here looking for something.

Poor man looks for change.

Injustice looks for change.

Snipers look for targets to lock aim.

A boy in the projects is shooting jumpers in the cold,

perfecting his aim.

Only those who can afford it, know the price of fame.

Then again, O.J. is footing the bill after an acquittal.

An example for the system, his fame was in vain.

Then they say that the younger generation is so vain.

War is all around, so it's critical to have ice water running through your veins.

Brothers on the down-low, changing lanes.

Range Rovers hug the road closer when accelerating and changing lanes.

We're all here looking for something.

I don't do it as often as I should, so I kneel longer when I pray.

I've got a child on the way,

so everything standing in his or her way becomes my prey.

They need to believe in something.

We're all here looking for something,

even if it can never be peace.

Maybe I can change a little bit, starting with this piece.

Peace.

Truth and honesty are not always the same thing. Truth deals with facts and honesty deals with the contents of the heart and soul. Truth can be cold, yet honesty will always be true to the heart that speaks from it's fine existence.

You speak the truth here, honestly. I agree with you here and I don't think there is any negativity here.

I've got a child on the way,
so everything standing in his or her way becomes my prey.

Every good parent's plight is to keep the world's truth from affecting our children's honesty. You've done your child justice here...You'll make a fine father. Much more than many children have today.

100 daisies (to coin jet lag's saying). I find no fault here...only perfection in your honest truth.

Nice, very topical in the news type of stuff to relate to
'War is all around, so it's critical to have ice water running through your veins.'
It's closer than it should be sometimes, and this line is powerfull.
Hoping we find that 'something', nice write

I wouldn't say this is as negative as people think. If anything it's realistic and mixes facts with literary opinion. I too liked the line "I've got a child on the way, so everything standing in his or her way becomes my prey." I can only picture myself who has delt with the battle of life and understand things are not always sunshine and happyness. Its a battle zone and "we're all looking for something".

At first ...I didn't care for the way this ran as a string of continuous
string of social ills ...and related revalational thought...it very much works.

If you think you were .... getting perspective in depth now....wait till your Prince or Princess breathes her or his first. Your every sense and integrity becomes so accute.
God will grab you by the scruff of your mind and get in your face....
In the most empowering way .

I love this Daddy side :::: smile:::::

This line shook me. As a new mother I think....damn...anyone who would EVER THINK of hurting or hindering my baby girl better run for the hills...and I do believe you put it all together in this piece, everything stated strongly, sadly, and beyond poetically.

Wonderful, wonderful job!!

We're all here looking for something.
each line had its own story
disconnected from the others
but connected by the line
"We're all here looking for something."
