The start

A Chapter by Ink

The light of day creeps from the window to the wall of a room with walls of mahogany. The light bathed the red-ish wood and created an illusion of bright fire in the room. With the bright concoction , two pairs of eyes opened slowly at first but then blinked rapidly. The first boy threw his blanket away to the next bed and ran to the door. The second boy lifted his and his brother's blanket off of him and rearranged both beds. After which he called out "Janson don't eat my half! " and down the stairs came a mouth-full-of-food reply "I will if you don't get down here!"
And we can say now that Jarson is the one heading down the kitchen as Janson, bent over food, grabbed his orange juice across the table and drank hurriedly. All the while Cal and Andi, the surprised parents, stared at this two boys.
"That is strange." Cal sighed as he drank his coffee.
"Well I think this should happen always!" Andi chuckled.
True. It should. These parents knew their children well to determine what is new. For one, Jarson is usually the jolly one around breakfast and another, Janson is almost always the one who Cal drags out of bed. Jarson joined them and ate still with gusto but as he is the gentle one his breakfast manner is not sloppy, Janson on the other hand reflects his emotions in his actions.

" It is not a school day! Therefore seeing this two awake earlier than It can only mean I am getting older." Grandpa joined in as well and stared at the circus of Janson. "If I had appetite as yours I would have been everywhere."

"Don't you mean 'had eaten anything' grandpa?" Janson asked

"Yes that too." Grandpa added

"Andi this boys of yours amaze me!" Cal laughed this words towards Andi who blushed and smiled at him in return "They take up more from you when you were younger." She added

"You are up to something." Grandpa exclaimed to Janson. As he did Cal and Andi went on to clean the table and dishes.

"Yes! We are grandpa." Janson replied

"W-we want to spend more time playing with friends!" Jarson took a nervous look from his grandpa to his mother and resting a stink eye on Janson.

"Which reminds me, I will pack play things." Janson retreated upstairs again.

"Do take your showers first!" Andi reminded her children.

And now they've been cleaned and told to be home before night fall, they get ready to dash out the road. However grandpa caught up before then.
"Now boys hear me a bit, I know the two of you well so I will say this. Some stories are made to bade lessons, yes. But some are made for in them a bit of truth lies and the lesson is learned when one chooses to look for its truth."

"Grandpa we are ten." Janson replied
but Jarson nodded.

"What I meant was, if you listen to stories and consider all to be myths, those stories that have truths in them will bite you and kick you in your arse. And yes you are ten, some adventures real or not are meant to be spent at wiser age. Now don't go looking for trouble." Grandpa gave them both a poke at each right cheek. "Your mother is right you did take up after Cal."

And with that they gave him farewell and 'see you later'.

"Smart yes, but best be humble too!" He shouted at them.

"I don't supposed grandpa heard us last night." Jarson broke the silence as they near the end of market place and did their share of greeting. "I mean what he said to us..." He was cut off by Janson

"He may have but nothing is wrong with learning about the woods before we leave brother."

Jarson nodded "Let's just keep his words to mind."

Janson leaned "You think it useful?"

Jarson put his hands on Janson's shoulder "He did say some stories have truths, maybe his words have them too."

Now they have reached the edge of the woods and expect them to stop as they did. "Are we ready?" Janson asked "We are ten." Jarson mimicked Janson's words. And together they continued.

Woods can be thick or scanty, but they are woods nonetheless. For children imagining its magic, more magic, then woods can stretch far and wide. And as for them you can't get to the other side of you are not going to try. And so this is a beginning.
