Frozen Time

Frozen Time

A Poem by k. edwards
"

This is a poem about myself that surrounds the illustration of winter. To me winter brings respective thoughts that drift to my past. I have to tell myself I can't change but have to live and look for

Frozen Time

By Ken Edwards

Winter winds blow through the recesses of my brain

Dark Clouds fill the skies above me like heavy black curtains

The cold bites through you like a liquid fire

Your body shivers but finds no warmth

Sometimes you feel if time is locked in a frozen world

The days run together but don’t seem to end

You look back and ponder your footprint in snowstorms of your past

The colder days always roll into colder nights

You open a door of blizzards blasting winds that rips at your flesh

You find you must look forward and not dwell in your past endeavors

Hindsight would be a wonder if there were a magical bridge to bring about changes

But you know that warmer days lay ahead in the spring thaw

Till then I will have my feet planted in my present existence

When I choose to open the door of the previous time it does seem to freeze time like solid statue

So I smile and push through with mental and physical might

And let time stand perfectly quiet while I gaze forward.
