love

love

A Poem by Penn Writeswell

What is the meaning of love to me?

Love is as boundless as the open sea

Love is as infinite as the deep azure sky

Love is something that can never die

Love is my shield, my armor, my sword

Love is something my heart can afford

Love is a gift that is the best to be given

And without any love I wouldn’t be living.

Love is one of few things in life that is true

And that my dear, is why I love you.

Heh, very cute. In a "roses are red, violets are blue" sort of way.

I think the first few lines had the most impact, the first two in particular (conjuction of question and answer in rhyme). In fact, I almost think the poem gets worse (*winces*) as it goes along. Specifically, perhaps it would be better without the last two lines. I mean, of course it's necessary to resolve it, but the last couplet, in my opinion, isn't nearly as impressive as the first four. On the other hand, the last couplet gives a sense of simplicity that's nice in a way. Well, in the end, it's up to you.

Whatever the case, it's very well-written and well thought-out. And I like it in sort of an "awww that's cute" sense. Good job.
