Elegant

Elegant

A Poem by Ewen A Morrison
"

Our bilingual forbears are respectable...

"

Elegant

Elegance sounds so grandly  respectable

Yet the above can sound quite egotistical

Also/agus, my old-man was truly ineffable

Bilingual forbears were, were respectable

Dignified grace, appearance and movement

Behaviour is always elegant in refinement...

Progressively, we and they reflectingly do

Mirror each other, as if time's stopped too

"You are just like your Dad", Roma informs

They came from different times 'n' customs

However, if there is a hereafter dimension

Our relatives may agree to the implication

Poetcher?

Contentedly known as Ewen A Morrison

Other titles also apply by inclusion

Impossible to ignore, thence must be

Keira's 'Poetcher', now used happily

Nicknames arrive for various reasons

justVarying incredibly, like seasons

When formed, can become acceptable so

Surnames subsumed"maybe too bland

Morrisons had become "Kings" in past

Was recognised recently, has to last

Eventually/perpetually I am of them

Historically, and is being our hem!

Images of sartorial and well comported social graces and dignity in a varied range of circumstances… come to mind; of chivalry and diplomacy, honour and magnanimous grace. Perhaps it is all in my head for I have never lived there save vicariously. As for elegance, in that lens, those were better days if one was just noble and above. I humbly opine. 🙏🏻🕊

This poem flows very beautifully! I love including dialogue in my poetry, and I really like the way you’ve inserted “just like your Dad.” The first stanza is especially addicting to read, it all just clicks very well together.
