Nothing Yet Everything

Nothing Yet Everything

A Poem by Mr. Nemo
"

For the nothing.

"
He wakes up from an unrested slumber.
Walks with his friends but feels the lonesomeness.
Converses with his girlfriend
that is interrupted with brief,
forced kisses.
Hugged by his mother
however he is unwanted.
Smiles to survive the day,
to not be harassed.
"I'm okay" becomes his only reply,
his favorite motto,
his biography.
Overwhelmed with the artificial smiles
that pass him in the halls.
Finally returns home,
greeted with anger and hostility.
Stares in the mirror
yet sees nothing in return.
Looks around the bathroom and stares at his escape.
A way to be released.
Walks to the gates of Heaven
and is shot down by the one who accepts all.
Free to roam the wastelands of the world,
yet is constricted by self prevention.
Trapped in an endless cycle
that leads to nowhere.
Discovers a path that leads to nothing,
yet everything.
Everything that awaits for his arrival,
waits with anticipation.
Yet is never found,
never released.
He continues to act,
continues the script of his life
though no one is in the audience.
He sits and stares.
Stares at himself,
dreading himself.
He's holding the razor
and thinks...
don't.
Yet he does.
Painfully watching.
And yet as he stares at his life,
he stares at nothing.

Wow. This poem is quite profound. I enjoyed reading because I felt a sense of self within your words here, yet the truthfulness at times hurts the most. What real, true, raw poetry. Keep up the good work!
