Battle For Katharine Preview - CeceliaA Story by PenguinEmpiresspreview to the Battle For Katharine. A look into a past battle of Queen Cecelia... long before the true story starts....Cecelia There’s so much blood…. On my hands, on my sword…. It smears
my face and clothes and its reeks of death. This battle ground… once lively
with green grass is now dirtied with bodies and blood, it covers all corners of
vision…. And brakes the mind of the weak-willed. This battle field… this war…. What was it for again…. Why
did it happen…. Why can’t I escape it…. I fear for my warriors… for my people. I take a step forward and blood splashes around by foot.
Looking back I can’t even remember what started this war, or even why I was a
part of it… No wait… that’s not correct…. I do know why it started…. It was
that good for nothing Eleanora’s fault… that bewitching coward of a woman. How
dare she! If it won’t for her and her plays, my warriors would still
be alive right now and not drowning in the dirt in their death. Digging my sword into the ground, I lean on it. I look at
the ground all I see is blood and half a hand…. No dirt, no mud…. Just blood.
But looking closer I notice a golden pendant laying in a pool of blood. Allowing my body to give in, I fall to the ground, splashing
more of the surrounding blood as my knees and dress hit the ground. I keep a
tight grip on my sword just encase one of these soldiers are still alive, but
with this sort of destruction, I find it near impossible…but still. Reaching
out I grab the smeared pendant and pick it up out of the blood. I watch as the blood drips off the gold and returns to the
pool. Wiping away some of the blood off the front I take a closer look. It has
the Luna symbol on it, a crescent moon… I can only squeeze it tightly when I
discovers it’s from one of my warriors, one of my warriors that lay dead
somewhere in this mess of bodies. My finger slips down the sides, until I feel a clip of
sorts. I press on it and the lid of the pedant slightly cracks open, blood
running along the sides. I narrow my eyes slightly at the pendant fearing the
worst. Slipping my glove covered nail through the crack I flip it open. Seeing what was inside may have been my worst decision I’ve
ever made. I feel my eyes water at the pendant and grip it tighter. I let go of my sword and cover my mouth as I feel a hiccup
come up my throat. My tears start to fall down my face and nothing I try stops
them from falling. I shut my eyes and finally let go. Flinging my head back, I let out a scream. Crying. Sobbing. tears run down my face and land on my lap. I cover my mouth with both of my hands and the pendant but nothing stops the hiccups from coming. I scream again louder this time, slamming my fist into the ground making a pool of blood ripple slightly. Continuing to cry I look at the now blurry pendant, tears still falling from my eyes.
This man or woman’s family, I wonder how they’ll react knowing that their loved
one is dead, that one of the soldiers under my command is dead… laying in the
dirt waiting to be eaten by a beast. Looking up and out into the distance I see nothing but
death… This battlefield…. It’s broken me….. Gripping my swords handle I lean against it and stand. The
pendant still in my hand. I will not let this pendant become a prize for a
cowardice raided. Pulling my sword out of the ground swiftly I head back
towards my camp… the camp that hold my dying, wounded but living men and women.
I rub my eyes and nose, but expecting my warriors to know
what had happened even so. I look down at the golden pendant… The owner of this
pendant has done his family proud, I just wish…. That they were the one to
return it to their family…… not me….. “Come Home Safe” © 2016 PenguinEmpiress
