Two SonnetsA Poem by PencilofDestinyAn Anti-smoking project I did for Health class a while back. She plays outside, laughing, her rosy cheeks glowing in the midday sun. Playing in the soft, luscious lawn where all her days are spent. With her soft, gentle kindness and determination that can't be bent, She'll retreat into her tiny, white house, when the day is done. She'll play and run, most joyously having the utmost fun Even when her friendly new neighbor starts smoking with no harmful intent She leaps and frolics with her siblings, unaware of her descent. How her days of running in her perfect paradise will soon all be gone. How she will start coughing, day and night, And stay in the white-colored bed, and cause her family worry. How miserable she will be, stuck in her excruciating plight, And how she has no toys , but a tube instead, and that she will be buried.
So beware my friend, and your companion Who smokes at his own will. And take heed of your, and his actions So that you shouldn't kill. Second-hand smoke goes everywhere And kills one in three; every day, That means that others, are safe nowhere And that your kill-rate, is here to stay. Smoking is bad. That much is true. So don't complain to me When humans come, blaming you For killing their meaning of beauty. So at the very least, my friend, Don't smoke where people attend, So that you do not have to amend, What cannot be amended. © 2013 PencilofDestinyAuthor's Note
