Monsoon

Monsoon

A Poem by PencilinMyHair

A state awaits,
with breath abated.
A thousand fates,
entwined the fury nature created.

Stifling air, if air at all,
draws quick the sweat and everyone
begins to melt and sprawl.
There’s no respite in the Aussie sun.

Australian heat is legendary,
the roads melt, your thongs do too.
“Waterproof” makeup proves quite contrary.
Showers are many, and dry clothes few…

If clothes there be at all!
But raincoats at the ready,
For nature cannot stall.
What we cannot see, might be here already.

A bright blue sky, with puffy white clouds,
turns quick to menacing black.
A rumble in the air, heavy and loud
is a signal. Monsoon is back!
