What Will You Give?

What Will You Give?

A Poem by Adam Light
"

I'm not sure if anyone will understand this or gain value from it, but here's what I've got so far.

"
What will you give?
What will you give
to have this dream
be yours to live?

I have nothing.
Nothing, I think.
I am trapped air
that's doomed to sink.

Oh, that is good
that's very good!
Would you give air,
if air you could?

Yes, I'd like to;
I truly would,
but I do not
think that I could.

You can; you will!
It's right for you.
Just take the air
from what you do.

I cannot seize
air of that kind;
I do not do,
and I'm confined.

The thoughts you think
stifle the air,
and so you sink
into despair.

Action is a
ship made of steel
that displaces air
and make dreams real.

And if you would
but trade with me,
action would float
you on the sea.

I'm sorry, but
we've got no deal.
I cannot do
what I can't feel.

The days can pass;
I understand.
My hourglass drops
all of the sand.

Farewell, good trader,
and best of luck!
I hope you find
a mind unstuck.

I'm not a trader,
you poor, poor soul,
and seeking air
is not my goal.

I am a voice
inside your mind.
This is the best
deal that you'll find.

Take some action,
and waves, explore.
Give me something;
I'll give you more!
