The HammerA Poem by Adam LightTo the world, I'll give my best. I know not when I will die, But I have faced my death, and decided to still try. The only death I ever feared, was a tragic one for me, Where my heart gets smashed, in a heart smashing spree. I saw a hammer in the sky, always downward slamming, so I hid my heart inside, and started reprogramming. The hammer hit my head, with brutal swings and blows but my head could take it and it kept me from my throes. I faced that hammer in the sky, really, not that long ago, I opened up my hidden heart, and gave it room to grow. The hammer still does strike like I feared before but it rarely ever hits me as I dance across the floor.
