Single Day

Single Day

A Poem by Adam Light

I missed the boat, so I built my own.
By the time I was done, a forest had grown.

I entered the forest with nothing at all.
I followed a stream to a waterfall.

There I decided to build a home.
I would not wander, I would not roam.

I set myself up, and stayed there for years.
I had a waterfall, and no need for tears.

Then one night I realized that I could not stay
So I built a raft in a single day.

Wow. The story-telling in this is masterfully composed.

Leaves me wanting more... to where did you go?

Doesn't matter; because you have constructed such a powerful character that he (she) can accomplish anything, wherever/whatever they may face.

The psychology in this piece is well-done, creating a character who oozes independence, courage and strength.

Glad I read this.

Much love,

LR

Short but sweet. It says so much in just a few words.
