The End

The End

A Poem by Pencalibur

I’ve seen the end of a broken heart,
Where the beaten path is like a work of art,
Where the bruises end and the apathy starts,
I’ve seen the end, I’ve seen the end.

I’ve seen the end of a tired gaze,
Where the eyes are full of fog and haze,
Where there’s smoldering embers of a once strong blaze,
I’ve seen the end, I’ve seen the end.

I’ve seen the end of a pretend smile,
Where you try to make it seem worthwhile,
Where you try and go that extra mile,
I’ve seen the end, I’ve seen the end.

I’ve seen the end and the end sees me,
Where it’s ignored my every plea,
Where I’m standing in debris,
I’ve seen the end, I’ve seen the end.
