Willfully Enslaved

Willfully Enslaved

A Poem by Aram Alexander
"

Written while listening to 'A Three Legged Workhorse' by This Will Destroy You. Based on life, as usual.

"
Haunt me no more, your shadow drowns me
As I sink down to the floor, and my heart begins to bleed.
I can't take it anymore, no I can't take you anymore.
The sun is going dark, as I stare up at the sky.
You steal my breath, indifferent,
as you calmly watch me die.
And I still wonder why, why you murdered me inside.
My eyes are opened, but they stare unseeing, into you placid face.
My hands are open, but they touch unfeeling, against your stonecold skin.
Am I your disgrace, locked up in this forbidden place?
Am I your only sin, hidden among darkness deep within?
What did you do to me, to change me so radically?
You're always on my mind, you're so one of a kind,
Will I ever be free, can I ever be free, do I want to be free?
Separate myself from you, cut my heart out of my chest,
Leave you standing as I walk away, slit my wrists vertically,
'Cause there's no coming back from this,
And you're not coming back for me.
