Humanity in the Face of Gods

Humanity in the Face of Gods

A Poem by Aram Alexander

I am a human in a world full of fake gods.
A mere mortal, such a sinner.
Flawed, lost, confused.
Adrift on an ocean of emotions,
My heart is my life-raft
Yet it is full of holes.

Sorrow.

Love.

Regret.

Joy.

Pain.

Wonder.

Uncertainty.

Hope.

I drown in these feelings
Yet I feel so alive.
I want to ask them,
The plastic gods in my sky,
"how can you live
like today is your last
if you have always existed
and know no end?"
So tonight I shed a tear for these gods
that know nothing about the life that they create,
And the feelings they cannot feel.
