Brief Passion

Brief Passion

A Poem by Aram Alexander
"

"T'is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all." ~ Alfred Lord Tennyson

"

You may think these are just words, but I swear to everything above and below that she...
I don't know how to explain it, she just stood out from the crowd.
It's as if she were shining brighter than anything around her; a star in a hall full of candles.
And I, the imprudent moth drawn to the brightest light.
I should have realized that before long my wings would burst into flame and I would be cast back down into shadow; just another Icarus reaching for the Sun, borne on constructs of foolish hope and fragile dreams.
It seems that love is but a whisper on the wind, lost amidst the hurricane of existence.
But in the end it has all been worth it; a fleeting moment of brightly lit passion in a dark and despondent world.
