Flower

Flower

A Poem by PenFox

'Twas the midnight hour,
And I came across a single flower,
All alone an the dark field,
And its beautiful pedals caused me to yield,
And stop for a while,
And give it a wounded smile,
Then I sat and stared at this sad little flower,
For far longer than an hour,
Slightly, I wished it were someone I knew before me,
So that I could have told them how I felt easily,
But this little flower seemed to do well,
Well in listening; I could then tell,
How nature could be a dear friend,
Until the end-
An end, not caused by me,
An end where I pass peacefully,
So that I hurt no one,
So that I can enjoy the Sun.
"Thank you, little plant,
For listening to my sorrowful rant,"
Said I.
And as I left, it seemed to wave goodbye.
And I waved back.
