Down in Front

Down in Front

A Poem by Pen Draggin'
"

An Ekphrasis of Van Gogh's "Starry Starry Night"

"

I have never been to this town

but I know that sky well

where the moon is a dark shade of yellow

seeming to suck color from the air

large and heavy, too tired to rise high.

Too many stars to count

each glowing colors on its own

whispering to each other

sirens in the night sky

beg you, crane your neck further.

If I had been to this town

I would not have seen it at all

my face uplifted

breeze rushing at me to further seduce.

Thick branches enter my view

an obscurity to the illuminating performance

I am tempted to utter a quick "down in front."

The flickering windows may be foreign

but the hills and I have been one

laid out on the side, moisture seeping through

gives a tingle to the skin

only adding to such a religious experience.

I'm sure I'm going to hell

if only for enjoying this all too much.
