Hello Goodbye

Hello Goodbye

A Poem by Pegs Van Damme
"

Sit, be patient and absorb every word

"
Have you
realized that
an approaching
car on
the highway

is louder
than

when it speeds
past
and away?

Maybe
because
after it reaches us
and it becomes loudest,

and our ears cant handle anymore,

it digresses

as the
volume knob
of its sound
turns slowly
left and
the space
opens
away
because

now that we've
heard
all that it has to say;

our brief
experience
having drained it
of any substance,

it leaves

broken,
crying
quietly.

Wow I really really like this poem. To me it can be construed in a couple if different ways. You could be lending to fact that some people are negligent and simple minded and only acknowledge the things in life that sit right in front of them, or you could be saying something to the tune of we actually take from life and the world around us by learning and living in it, or you could mean something else entirely. This is the stuff great poems are made of when three different people can read one poem and all of the take with them something different. Just out of couriosity though I would like to know what your literal meaning was in this poem.

I love the originality in this piece.
The way it's structured, the subject...
That feeling of needing to be heard and that sad quiet retreat.
Using the cars to illustrate this is brilliant. Nice job. :-)
