For just a moment caught in time, a lovely Monarch butterfly, a perfect rose and I were one.
One Summer's Morn
A butterfly came passing by the window in my room. I watched it twirl and, slowly, swirl until it picked a bloom. In morning's light, this precious sight could take one's breath away If senses dared to comprehend how grand was this display.
A rose stood bare on one long stem where butterfly had lit; And, while I sipped my cup of tea, I watched the monarch flit. No pattern seemed to mark the flight of whimsy I dared view; But, in my mind, I did create a fantasy or two.
If I could be that butterfly, I wondered where I'd go And if I'd pay attention to those watching from below. Perhaps I, too, would find the view of that one precious rose A perfect place from which to trace the dreams that thoughts expose.
For just a moment caught in time, that butterfly and I Were one in nature's wondrous world---and I shan't question why.
I'm impressed with your ability to write. That is a thing I rarely get the chance say these days. You have quite a talent, and I'm afraid that I've become a fan. I relate the feel of your words to mine, and the way I believe you think reminds me of myself. I find such peace in this poem. It's very well done, and flows like a river.

Gorgeous poetry, Sharon! I didn't know until just now I'd find you on this site, but I'm so happy I have. I've always loved your poetry and this one is a gem.

There was something wonderfully spiritual in your endearing poem. Such beauty abounding and it filled up my senses and took me into the world of that wondrous rose and elegant butterfly. Thank you for submitting this to the "Ten" Sharon.
