A t night, I let my pet the moon
R un freely into the sky meadow
E ver conscious of how quickly dawn shall steal the stage.
Y et, that handsome moon dances with a myriad of stars
O ver lovers stranded on the earth below
U ntil another morning rises to chase him from view.
W atch how his silver beams radiate with joy
A t freedom only darkness divvies.
T aking into stride
C onstraints not of his making,
H is wonder fills my soul with hope
I n a belief that the universe is beyond simple comprehension.
N ever has he appeared to show sadness or
G iven me reason to question purposes I've not yet come to understand.
T oo many nights lately, I've failed to gaze
O n his silver moonbeams smiling graciously down;
N ow that my days seem to be growing too few,
I wonder if I'll pass his way again.
G athering doubts may cloud a coming day;
H owever, none shall have the power
T o dim moon's splendor etched on this starry evening sky.
A las, I miss you, darling;
L et me spend this special night alone with you.
O nly time can answer questions left unasked;
N ot knowing what the future has in store,
G ive me one more dance to pass the hours away.
W alking under moon's soft beams,
I feel more blessed than I can ever explain.
T he love that grew through our years together
H as never lost its starry glow.
M eet me on the garden path where the moonbeams fall from the sky;
E ven if I walk alone, I'll sense your love and find peace within a sigh.
"I wonder if I'll pass his way again.
G athering doubts may cloud a coming day;
H owever, none shall have the power
T o dim moon's splendor etched on this starry evening sky."
