Written for Tovli's challenge:
Write a prose poem USING ALL TEN WORDS WRITE A PROSE POEM THAT ACKNOWLEDGES LOSS. TITLES DON'T COUNT.
CORPORATE, MAD, ARRIVED, PIECE, MONEY, SMILED, MOON, TUNE, FIGURED, LIVING
Busted, Broke and Bankrupt
Too many smiled at living large
and arrived, mad money in hand,
to grab that piece figured to be
a perfect stake in the stock market's windfall dream.
After all, isn't it true that the moon
should be the only limit to success?
As one piece of the pyramid's puzzle toppled,
corporate greed ate two more hunks.
Not only the hungry sing for their supper these days
as a familiar tune plays, "Buddy, can you spare a dime?"
Loved the wry humour in the cartoon, loved the commonsense warning about easily acquired wealth.
Question:- Was the black background with obscured type ( I had to highlight it to make it legible) a metaphor for the hidden dangers of plunging into the murky world of finance ???? :-)
