Do Unto Others

Do Unto Others

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander

When words alone are not enough,

A silent courage stands

Amidst the troubles multiplied

Throughout Earth's many lands.

Although we may be different

In many smaller ways,

We know when words are not enough

It's deeds that bridge the maze.

Perhaps it is a sack of grain

Or rice to feed a crowd---

When earthquakes, floods, or terrors strike,

Kind actions speak most loud.

As tragedies bring fear and pain,

It's bravery we see

While people test the elements

To save each refugee.

A simple smile may warm the heart

Of one whose luck is down;

A gentle hug may do a lot

To ease a troubled frown.

An act of kindness says so much

That language can't express.

Can we afford an attitude

Reflecting any less?

Comfortable rhyming, and an easy, relaxed rhythm, allowing the words to sink into one's mind all the better (and each word is the truth).

Lovely work.
