Miss Bunny's LessonA Poem by Sharon Miller BolanderChildren's rhyming story poemOne sunny day in warmth of May, I took a little walk. Along the path, I met some friends, and we began to talk.
"What are your plans for this fine day?" my pal, Miss Bunny, said. Before I'd even answered her, she'd hopped along ahead.
The turtle laughed and raised his brow just slowly moving on; I smiled as Mister Turtle's mouth let out a great big yawn.
Opossum came from 'neath a bush with babies right behind. She seemed to be a nervous mom whose offspring wouldn't mind.
We crossed a bridge and paused to watch Miss Beaver build her dam. She carried twigs, then dropped them down, and gave some mud a wham.
The turtle said, "It's time for tea; let's stop and take a break." We placed a blanket on the ground And shared some tea and cake.
Just as the rest of us got up, Miss Bunny reappeared; and, then, the rabbit said to us, "It's just what I had feared!"
"What did you fear?" I asked of her, not knowing what to think. That's when I noticed Turtle's eyes were giving me a wink.
No, not a single crumb of cake would Rabbit get to try; The price for rushing on ahead would be her answer why.
"What are your plans for this fine day?" Miss Bunny asked once more. This time she didn't hop away As she had done before.
I think the rabbit learned that day a lesson all must learn. To talk is fine and dandy, BUT please listen in return. © 2008 Sharon Miller BolanderReviews
