Call Me Mud Pie Mom

Call Me Mud Pie Mom

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander

Just place me in a flowerbed

with birds a-circling overhead;

please add some sunshine and some rain

to make this landscape my domain.

Pink columbine and peony,

some hostas growing 'round a tree

can mingle with the marigolds

acknowledging petunias bold.

Bright rainbow colors, my delight,

parade from dawn 'til dark of night.

Do I need add another clue?

I’m passionate about this view!

But, best of all, when I survey,

it seems the work is only play.

These muddy knees and dirty hands…

oh, yes, they’ve answered my demands

because I’ve gained true happiness

becoming such a dirty mess!

Loved this one Sharon. You described absolute bliss of becoming such a dirty mess and seeing the fruits of your labour coming to fruition in your, what I'm sure is, a wonderful garden.

Happy mud pie making!!
