Too Many Tears

Too Many Tears

A Poem by Sharon Miller Bolander

Pieces of tragedy scatter a hate

Groomed not to pardon or wane in debate.

Fragments of truth mixed with portions of lies,

Blacken the rainbows with bombs in the skies.

What the world needs now is love sweet love.

Guided by visions of men in smart suits,

Combat finds soldiers a-marchin' in boots.

Thoughts not of strangers or even their own,

Seeds of destruction are carelessly sown.

What the world needs now is love sweet love.

History happens again in repeat

Victory's painful and vengeance is sweet.

One for the money and two for the show,

Plenty to learn for the ones in the know.

What the world needs now is love sweet love.

Stand at attention; salute to the chief.

Where is compassion and where is relief?

Hearts have grown heavy, and minds have grown weak.

Where is the wisdom the masses do seek?

Such a sad, yet inspirational and thought provoking poem. Beautifully written with such a strong message. This world has seen too many tears. But when will people start wiping up those tears that are about to fall, and replace it with peaceful smiles?

Great job!!!
