A Place called first step

A Place called first step

A Poem by Peggy Gildon
"

A Place called first step is a sober house program for addict or alcoholic who truly wants to get clean. They have houses all over Broward county, Florida and they work very closely with the courts.

"

Where do you go when you’ve had enough?

When life has become unmanageable and times are tough

You’re stuck in the Broward County Jail

And not even your parents will post your bail

You’ve sat there so long your minds become clear

You don’t even recognize that face in the mirror

You see what your life has become

You wonder what you were running from

Now you are scared there is no where to turn

The judge holds your future, say’s you’ll never learn

An Angel from Heaven whispers in your ear

He say’s when you’re ready, help is right here

We’ve taken many people who had lost hope

We’ll work the 12 steps there are ways to cope

I was like you lost, but look at me now

I will take you in and we will show you how

Many souls have become whole because of a debt

Paid by Richard the founder of a place called First Step

Author's Note

Peggy Gildon
The founder of this program Richard was robbed and killed about 4 years ago as he walked out of his office with the rents he collected that day.... They did catch the killer. May he rest in peace, he truly believed that he could and he surely did save many.
