CHILDREN NEED LOVE

CHILDREN NEED LOVE

A Poem by Peggy Gildon

Children learn so much so fast it's hard to comprehend

How many times they've laughed or cried when the day

 comes to an end

How many times their little hearts were mended with a kiss

How many times a kind gesture filled their heart with bliss

How just a look can make them burst into fitful tears

And your disappointment in them is their greatest fear

The security you give them, you can see it in their face

They want so much to please you they love to hear your praise

When you see their little faces beaming with delight

Rest assured in knowing you're doing something right...

I wish all parents could see children this way. Parenting is the most important job in the world, and not even a license is required. The line about how a look of disappointment is their greatest fear reminds me of my youngest son. I think I may have spanked him twice in his whole life. Just my saying, "Son, you disappointment me" hurt him more than any belt across his rear.

Isn't that the truth? They are precious gifts.
