DID YOU HAVE A DREAM

DID YOU HAVE A DREAM

A Poem by Peggy Gildon

WHEN YOU WERE YOUNGER DID YOU HAVE A DREAM

OF HOW YOUR LIFE WOULD TURN OUT IN LIFES GREAT SCHEME

DID YOU BUILD ON YOUR DREAM FOLLOW YOUR INTUITION

DID YOU BRING THE PLAN FOR YOUR LIFE TO FRUITION

DID YOU HIT MANY DETOURS ALONG THE ROAD

DID YOU GET RID OF SOME DREAMS TO LIGHTEN THE LOAD

DID YOU HELP THOSE YOU COULD ALONG THE WAY

DID YOU MAKE THE BEST OF EVERY DAY

DID YOU STAY THE COURSE AND LIVE YOUR DREAM

WITH THE DETOURS AND CHOICES IN LIFES GREAT SCHEME

Very nicely written food for thought. I'm still trying to decide what I want to be when I grow up! Nothing has turned out the way I thought it would, there have been many detours, and many times being completely lost but I could have never dreamed of the happiness I have today. Life takes a whole different course when you stop thinking you know what's best and let the Lord do the thinking for you. I really like the questions you pose in this very creative piece.

Yes Peggy, I got rid of a whole pile of worthless dreams and replaced them with even more. I'm an incorrigible dreamer so I really see where your poem comes from. Never stop dreaming Peggy, all I say to do is dream with your head above or below the clouds.

Very nice! Each question made me stop and think about my own life and what I would do.

I always wanted to be a Vet but life got in the way, and my dreams went down the drain.
I've always been a lover of animals, and by the time I had the opportunity to go to college, I had a child with ADHD and no child care services willing to accept him.

I ended up working as an EMT for our local volunteer Ambulance Service part-time and raised my son, and cared for my aging parents. My mother and I still live together but the roles have once again been reversed, mom is back taking care of me.

What a question to ask someone who could never figure out what they wanted to be when they grew up...LOL Been thinking along these lines all day so really enjoyed the questions. Maybe spur new ones... Thanks
