My Heart BeatsA Poem by Autumn TakatchThe pain of medical issuesMy Heart Beats My heart beats to a different sound, Erratic, loud, and so profound, Beats my heart to a different sound, Makes me want to fall on the ground, Beats my heart again to a different sound. My lungs breathe to a different sigh, Feels like telling the world goodbye, Breathes my lungs to a different sigh, Deep down it makes me want to cry, Breathes my lungs again to a different sigh. My eyes see to a different view, How I wish they were brand-new, Sees my eyes to a different view, Glassy and sunken is their hue, Sees my eyes again with a different view. My ears hear to a different tone, Buzzing and ringing they forever drone, Hears my ears to a different tone, The cause of pain still unknown, Hears my ears again to a different tone. My head thinks in a different way, If only my thoughts I could convey, Thinks my head in a different way, To go without suffering for even a day, Thinks my head in a different way. My body fights a different foe, Headfirst cast into the throe, Fights my body to a different foe, In my dreams I cry out NO! Fights my body to a different foe. My heart beats to a different sound, How much longer until I’m found, My lungs breathe to a different sigh, I really do fear that I’ll die, My eyes see to a different view, All the pain that I've accrued, My ears hear to a different tone, Into the very flames I am thrown, My head thinks in a different way, To have even a little say, My body fights a different foe. taking on numerous blows. © 2020 Autumn Takatch |
