Guantanamo SunriseA Poem by MIKEJust another chapter in the, "war of terror."
Guantanamo Sunrise
A crimson sphere of splendour Textured vastness tinted blue An elaborate bestowal Of a day that’s fresh and new
A figure bent and shackled In an odd and awkward stance Like a moment that was captured From a wild demented dance
A naked light bulb shoots a shadow Across a cell gun metal grey As an endless moment lingers In one long and endless day
Architects of misery On a faith inspired route Show no appetite for mercy And no interest in the truth
When their soldiers metamorphous Into homeless on their streets Will they fear their sons and daughters When it’s them that taste defeat
God dam the silent watchers And the shameful role they play As an ugly war rages, men live in cages And drown on dry land at Guantanamo Bay.
A ball of golden brilliance Slides towards end of day But the sun never sets, and the world won’t forget We all stand as a witness to Guantanamo Bay © 2008 MIKE |
