Tribute to NanA Poem by MIKEKindness has a long shelf life.
Tribute to Nan Countenance of weathered leather Neath a Zig -Zag maken’s haze If I live to be a hundred I will not forget those days Hair of salt but mainly pepper Tucked beneath a well worn tam Nan was there with simple kindness She’s every good thing that I am She couldn’t write her name on paper And the words she said were few But there was wisdom in her presence And a strength to cling on to Gravelled voice, from years of smoking Harsh in sound with gentle tones Battled woes of all description And whispered calm into my bones Penury defines her journey Never bitter always strong Took each day with all it offered Never asked where life went wrong A humble home that was a haven With a door that never shut I never heard her say I love you But soothing love was all I got © 2008 MIKE
