'Gainst The Foggy Window Panes

A Poem by PeacefulPieces
"

Contemplating love as rain slowly falls...

"
'Gainst The Foggy Window Panes

'Gainst the foggy window panes
I watch the raindrops spatter
'Gainst the foggy window panes

On the roof, gentle patter
Pondering my heart's desires
I watch the raindrops spatter

Trying to quell love's fires
Wanting only for your love
Pondering my heart's desires

Darkened clouds around, above
I cling to a hope, a dream
Wanting only for your love

But at last, I see a gleam
In your eyes, mirrored in mine
I cling to a hope, a dream

This is more than just a sign
'Gainst the foggy window panes
In your eyes, mirrored in mine
'Gainst the foggy window panes

Author's Note

PeacefulPieces
The Terzanelle is a poetry type which is a combination of the villanelle and the terza rima forms. It is a 19-line poem consisting of five interlocking triplets/tercets plus a concluding quatrain in which the first and third lines of the first triplet appear as refrains. The middle line of each triplet is repeated, reappearing as the last line of the succeeding triplet with the exception of the center line of the next-to-the-last stanza which appears in the quatrain.
