Last Christmas

Last Christmas

A Poem by PeacefulPieces
"

Imagine knowing that this is yours...

"
Last Christmas

I sit here now and watch them bustle ‘round;
‘Twas just last year I stood amongst them all.
The pots and pans were clanging " what a sound "
But this year now, I feel so weak and small.

Around the table conversations flew "
The laughter could be heard for miles and miles.
I’ve watched for many years " my children grew,
I’ve helped them face their demons and their trials.

But now it’s time for me to say goodbye.
With tear-filled hearts they know this is my last "
The last I’ll get to share the bubbly dry
And tell the funny stories of the past.

Please think of me the next you light the tree "
At Christmastime, the angel I will be.

PeacefulPieces
This poem is dedicated to my father, terminally ill with lung cancer that has spread to his brain and spinal cord. I love you, Dad.
UPDATE: Dad passed away March 11, 2008. Rest in peace Dad, you'll be missed at Christmastime, and every time.
