The Taste of Falling Rain

The Taste of Falling Rain

A Poem by PeacefulPieces
"

Sometimes rain doesn't fall from the sky...

"
The Taste of Falling Rain

The taste of falling rain
Still lingers on my lips
Reminding me of pain
More harshly felt than whips.

The sadness seen around
Me was what did me in "
The pain was so profound
And death had claimed its win.

I knew that you were gone,
I did not shed a tear.
But when I saw the dawn
I wept in child’s fear "

For dawn, foreboding red,
Remembering your rhyme,
Was when you took to bed "
Expect rain not sublime.

It rained that day you died,
You prob’ly didn’t know.
As everyone had cried
I watched it fall and so

The taste of falling rain
Still lingers on my lips
Reminding me of pain
More harshly felt than whips

Author's Note

PeacefulPieces
The rhyme refers to the sailor rhyme of: "Red sky at night, sailor's delight - Red sky at morning, sailors take warning" - It is something that was told to me very often by my father before he passed away.
