Hose Back RidingA Story by PeaceThis is based on a true story that happened, just with a little more details.
This whole week is horse camp. Today my group had to ride in the afternoon. With in that time we cleaned saddles, sweep the barn, groom the horses, and watch the other group ride there wonderful horses. Before you knew it, Mrs. Sue (our coach) called us in the ring to ride. So, we got are horses, tacked up, and led them out into the. After a good 6-7 minutes, everybody was up on there horses doing a working walk. We do our original routine. Working walk, practice stopping, collected jog/trot sitting, extended trot posting and a standing extended jog, then walk one around the rind ans have some water. After all of the riders and the horses are cooled down, we begin to lop and canter. This horse named Grace was in front of me and Hokie was behind me. The girl riding Hokie was very experienced, except, only her second time on Hokie. She has NEVER cantered on her horse before, and that horse is really fast, and talented. So as she was loping my horses ears were faced back so she could hear me. All of a sudden I hear this worried voice saying "stop, stop, stop". It was Sydney (the girl riding on Hokie). But instead of her horse stopping, my hose did, then Hokie stopped because he couldn't go anywhere since I was in front of him. Hokie stopped so suddenly that Sydney fell off, and skid her arm down the wooden fence as she fell. I stood up in the irons of my saddle to see if she was okay. She was in tears, our coach came over as calm as could be and then just stood there holding Sydney's hands talking to her, seeing if she was okay. She made her mover every part of her that had fallen on the fence. Then, she turned her arm over to see scrapes, scratches, and scars on her arm. She was in pain from falling down on her side and from scraping her arm. But, she is a very brave and confident person. So, she dried up her tears and went back on that horse. Then we practiced stopping just encase of an emergency dismount. Then, our time for riding was up. We put our horses away, and Sydney got a pack of ice, and said, "I still have a loving bond with my horse". I said " You have a lot of confidence in you Sydney. You're a great rider"!
And, when we were done UN-tacking our horses, everyone's parents were here. So, that meant that it was time to go (: © 2010 PeaceAuthor's Note
