![]() August Twenty-FifthA Poem by Paza
Against my better judgment,
Urged ahead by loved ones,
Getting away with murder, but
Unable to live with its aftermath.
Sorrow as deep as the sea
Took over my heart.
Teenaged stupidity, I tell myself while
Weeping for what was lost.
Every summer the memory,
Never to be forgotten,
Traces its path along my cheek.
Years – twenty-nine without holding you.
Feeling anguish, still so deep
It pierces my soul.
Fighting for forgiveness
Through every anniversary.
Healing – when does it finally begin?
