To The "Other Woman"

To The "Other Woman"

A Poem by Paza

He’s mine, you may have had him once,
But I got him all the time.
And honey, what you don’t know
Is that in the end his love is mine.

You may have caused his heart to beat fast,
But you’re a momentary thrill,
And now that you’ve gone and given in,
For him, you're just run of the mill.

One thing that you don’t realize,
To him it’s all about the chase,
The excitement of flirting new eyes,
That made him seek your pretty face.

Once your sheets are conquered
History you’ll be
Once he’s had his fun with you,
He always comes home to me.

Don't get me wrong, I don't condone
What you and he have done.
It makes me sick to think about,
It makes me want to run.

He cut me deep, I've shed my tears,
I've made my peace within,
For family's sake I can forgive
And we can begin again.

You are not his first affair,
And I doubt you’ll be his last,
And I’d almost feel sorry for you
Except I can’t forget the past.

You see, what you can’t give him,
In fact, what no one but me can,
Is the one thing he treasures above all else -
My love, in spite of the man.

He shows you only what
He wants for you to see,
He never shows his inner self
To anyone but me.

You’ll never look into his eyes
And see into his soul,
He’ll never let you get that close,
You’ll never reach that goal.

With you, it will always be just sex,
Between us, it’s making love
After thirty years together
We fit just like a glove.

I know just how to please him
Whenever he is down,
I know just how to make him happy
When he wants to mess around.

I know all his buttons,
It was I who found them first,
I know just how to hold him off,
Until he needs to burst.

You see, his body’s of my making,
We taught each other how,
To reach the peaks of mountains,
It's to me he’s made his vow.

We’ve celebrated good times,
Clung together through the bad,
Learned to lean on each other,
Now, tell me what you’ve had?

That night you spent together
To him never can compare,
To the family we’ve created,
And the history we share.

So you see, you may have thrilled him,
But in the end his love is mine,
Yes, you may have had him once,
But I got him for all time.

Well...I've yet to see a work quite like this here...very personal and pain-felt. You write from deep pain and your words are so true....speechless..
Great poem.

True love never runs off
Don't get me wrong I mean no disrespect
You must have strong love for him to stay
True love is a very happy place to be
Nicely written

Ouch, maybe you ought to offer a little ointment to such a burn! Fictional or not, it leaves the reader smarting haha.

Hrmmm, this is a tough one for me to review. I have very mixed emotions on the matter at hand. There is no denying that it is a strong piece, crafted very well, and emotionally powerful to the brim. However, you have shown a forgiveness that I never could. You see a love, that I simply do not see. I see a man that knows he will be forgiven, that knows he will always have that safe home, a place where he can run the night and return. I see a man that takes for granted, that abuses the love he has been shown. I see a man that may remember, may have the memories, and may have the knowledge; but I see a man that does not have the feelings. You say for him it is the thrill of the chase, and then he gets bored. Why would you think it is any different for you? Because he stays? You have given him a place to stay. He has a base for all his roamings, where he can safely return. If he did not feel safe there, would he not simply find another place to stay and then chase from there? No, I do not know the man - I do not know you - I really do not know anything about the situation other than what I have read here... and my own thoughts and experiences on the matter. Each situation is unique, and it must be acted upon in that manner - never reacted to in any manner. Cheaters are fun, but they are never keepers. If they are cheating on one, they will cheat on the other. It is a character flaw, and it is not one of those cute 'n cuddly adorable flaws. Many people on the other side believe that it will be different for them, that somehow they are special - they are different - that the person they are having that affair with - would never have an affair on them. I know I have deluded myself far too many times in the past thinking that....
