wow that is a really great poem. I love the message and the way you twist the language to your advantage. I love the first and last paragraphs, they really drive the message home and leave you with a feeling of uneasiness :) Except for a few places where the rhythm breaks, this is a great, tell it like it is poem. kudos
Lady Awena
My favorite lines:
"only Heart can stand
as the Promised Land"
I think what struck me most about the piece is the honest human-ness of the voice and tone. It just lays out an account of the poet's understanding with no lulling pontifications. It's action-packed in that each line has a specific point. "here" at the end each stanza also jerks me back in for more.
This is great. You have pure wisdom and talent combined. The perspectives you offer in your works are limitless. I appreciated the flow and intellect of this piece. Outside of the box and raw in emotion.
I sympathize too, with this need to kill what we are feeling by feeding our appetites on external things. although, what it means to be alive can only be answered subjectively, the message does not stop there. each stanza purports different perspectives of existence, all of them trapped in some buddha hell. as many have quoted on this line "Marvel in the flesh, cool kitty, what it is to be Alive/ain't no path to Shangri-La" enforces the notion that we cannot elude the omnipresent Here, we only sell ourselves short. Which begs the question of certain philosophies, like Descartes's solipsism and Kant's subject object interaction...
I think this is a very insightful piece. Written really well with great descriptors. The music does flow out of every line. I enjoyed it and will listen to it too.
I picture a world of chaos - a world where everyone is out for what they can get - funny, we can't take any of it with us - as we are all a day closer to dying.
Being "alive" should be so fresh - so invigorating - but maybe it really isn't when we really put it into perspective.
Your words can be interpreted to each reader - as the Bible can be interpreted differently to each reader.
