![]() ChinaA Poem by PawprintsYour smile, teetering at the edge of your face, like china
about to drop and break. I’m sitting, terrified to push too hard. You’re eyes are pleading, begging for something that I can’t
give, something that I will never be able to give. People are talking, laughing, but you’re not. You’re smiling
that smile that makes my stomach lurch and my head throb. You’re staring, and I
can see the fear, my own terror. Someone’s talking to you, mouth flying open and spilling
words that only break over you, falling into bits. I watch them fall, and I
watch you wobble. The china never breaks though, it never can finally be over.
It teeters there forever, spinning until someone can straighten it. Waiting
until someone can knock it off. I want to knock it off for myself. I want to watch you be
freed, flying before you crash But I know that you need someone who can straighten it, I
know you need someone who can set you back. Someone who’s not me. © 2013 PawprintsReviews
