Bandage

Bandage

A Poem by Pawprints

This bandage

It’s slowly peeling away

The yellow wound

Sticky and pale

This bandage

Placed to hide this wound

Placed to protect it

It’s too old to tear off

Too ripped to repair

Crumpled and twisted with age

Worn with hands creasing it back on

It’s slowly falling off

Slowly decaying

Decomposing against the scar

But it’s too late now

It’s too late

Of course!
Some wounds are too deep to repair. I think your metaphor of a ripped band-aid s oh so appropriate.
