Try to understand

That I'm not angry

I don't want to hurt you

I'm not trying to

But this is mine 

It's selfish of me

I know

But it's selfish of you

To demand it from me

So when I lock it in a drawer

And you scream at me

Tearing for more

Know that this isn't about you

It's not about me keeping it from you

It's about me keeping it

For myself.

really powerful words, what i like is that the message can be applicable to so many different things. it could be a tangible i tem that needs to be locked away , some deep emotion from the past or even a tendency of altruism. really liked the ending; 'its not about me keeping it from you, its about me keeping it for myself' # profound!

Very relatable. It's simply written and really resonates with me. Sometimes we lock things away to keep them from others, and that can be for a myriad of reasons. We keep secrets to avoid hurting others or to avoid exposing ourselves to criticism, but in the end, we have to open up and share that part of ourselves with the people closest to us so that they don't feel alienated. Each line hits hard, and it seems like it could be a song. Very nice. :)
