Beavers and Lovers (Sonnet)

Beavers and Lovers (Sonnet)

A Poem by Pauline

Besides those lofty guarding trees that sway

Whereby the gentle waters softly flow

’Tis there the beaver and his lady gay

With conceit seek their images below

But aft, those lovers of the evening sky

Robed in finery of silver and gold

Throw down a sheet of stars for you and I

To wrap around, wherein our love to hold

That none may see (lip to lip murmuring)

We two, in woven hands and burning hearts

Listening to the boughs soft whisperings

Which come in shortest tunes and then depart

We, for a while in heave’s light to lay

And leave to vainly beavers noon bright day.

I love poems that rhyme, I read them time to time. This part espescially got me:
But aft, those lovers of the evening sky
Robed in finery of silver and gold
Throw down a sheet of stars for you and I
To wrap around, wherein our love to hold
I get a lot of nostalgia from this sonnet and the narrative was simple yet engaging. Rhyme and metre can be so expressive, and I think you have grasped it. A very sweet, nostgalic, short piece full of fondness. I'd just like to ask you -- do you plan to add more to this work, Onegin-style?

I've been writing poetry for some time now. It allows me to escape some of the doldrums of life. I also paint when life allows me some quiet time. I wouldn't say I was great at either passtimes but I.. more..
